Classes Offered on Wednesday

High School Biology(9th - 12th)

Tuition: $160 per month for 9 months
Prerequisite: Algebra 1 or may be taken concurrently
Course description: This course will be held for 2 hours per week for 32 weeks. This course will emphasize the development of student's scientific process skills, laboratory techniques, and an understanding of the fundamental principles of living organisms. Topics include cell structure and function, genetics and heredity, diversity of living organisms and their ecological roles, and an introduction to animal structure and function. As scientific learners, students will analyze the data collected from experiments, answer questions, and write a lab report.

Curriculum:
Glencoe Science Book: "The Dynamics of Life" California Edition 2005. ISBN: 0078665809
Biology for NGSS student workbook - Tracey Greenwood, Lissa Bainbridge-Smith, Kent Pryor, Richard Allan. (2nd edition). ISBN: 9781927309469

Middle School Physical Science(7th - 8th)

Tuition: $140 per month for 9 months
Course description: This course will be held for 1.5 hours per week for 32 weeks. This course introduces the general principles of physics and chemistry. Topics include measurement, matter, the elements of the periodic table, chemical reactions, acids and bases, motion, Newton's laws of motion, momentum, energy, work, power, heat, thermodynamics, electricity, and magnetism.

Curriculum: Physical Iscience, Glencoe/Mcgraw-Hill; edition 2011, ISBN: 978-0-07-888004-9

Middle School Earth Science(6th - 7th)

Tuition: $140 per month for 9 months
Course description: This course will be held for 1.5 hours per week for 32 total sessions. This course will focus on maps, minerals, rocks, soil, erosion, volcanoes, plate tectonics, the atmosphere, energy resources, the earth-moon system, and much more. We will use a mixture of cooperative learning, thinking maps, lectures, notes, and lab experiments to assist with understanding the topics.

Curriculum: Earth Iscience, Glencoe/Mcgraw-Hill; 1st edition 2011. ISBN: 978-0-07-888003-2

Classes Offered on Friday

High School Physics(10th - 12th)

Tuition: $160 per month for 9 months
Prerequisite: Algebra 2 or may be taken concurrently
Course description: This course will be held for 2 hours per week for 32 weeks. In this course, students will study the concepts of interactions of matter and energy, velocity, accelerations, force, energy, momentum, light, sound, waves, charge, magnetism, and electricity. Students will be challenged to apply their knowledge of the laws of physics to solve physics-related critical thinking problems.

Curriculum: Glencoe Physics: Principles and Problems. 9th Edition 2004. ISBN:978-0078458132

Middle School Life Science(6th - 8th)

Tuition: $140 per month for 9 months
Course description: This course will be held for 1.5 hours per week for 32 weeks. In this course, we will focus on the characteristics of living things, life cycles, plant and animal cell structure, ecology, genetics, classification of organisms, the structure and function of human cells tissues organs, and organ systems, the structure and function of plants, animal structure and function, biomes, and ecosystems. We will use a mixture of cooperative learning, lectures, notes, and lab experiments to assist with understanding the topics.

Curriculum: Life IScience. Glencoe/Mcgraw-Hill; edition 2011, ISBN: 978-0-07-888002-5

High School Chemistry(10th - 12th)

Tuition: $160 per month for 9 months
Prerequisite: Algebra 1
Course description: This course will be held for 2 hours per week for 32 total sessions. This course will focus on matter, density, the periodic table, mixtures, physical and chemical reactions, atoms, acids and bases, Lewis structures, chemical formulas, and much more. We will use a mixture of cooperative learning, thinking maps, lectures, notes, and lab experiments to assist with understanding the topics.
